Jada | Modern Farmhouse Wine Country View

Have a look at this modern Calistoga farmhouse featured in this month’s Luxe Magazine and designed by Northern California architect Luke Wade.

The homeowners – relocating from Los Angeles – were drawn to the property’s serene landscape encompassing wide open fields, neighboring vineyards, and mountain ridgelines to the North and South.

The philosophy behind the design involved having the home seamlessly blend with its environment. The architecture – featuring high ceilings, exposed wood, and rustic elements – carry the modern farmhouse style beautifully. Wade embraces a close connection to the land with the use of “architectural portals.” Per the homeowner’s request, large expansive steel-frame windows and doors were specified to maximize the soft natural light, and endless views.

The transparent home, with several walls of glass, required an expert build team with meticulous attention to detail. Builders John Rechin, Mark Rechin and Hank Rechin of Total Concepts were up for the challenge and constructed the home from the ground up.

To further enhance the indoor/outdoor experience, landscape designer Bernard Trainor incorporated hues of color and textures that mirrored the exterior building materials, and native landscape.

Working closely with Trainor, Interior designer Lauren Geremia sourced local tactile and organic finishes that closely tie with the hardscape and plantings. Geremia selected custom furniture pieces from small workshops and stunning sculptural light fixtures.

With a strong collaborative effort made by the entire design team, the home in its completion successfully melds into the beauty of its surroundings and gives way to the serene landscape that is the essence of the wine country.
