Inswing Doors

These doors swing into the room and are hinged at the side of the door. Inswing doors have their own family of matching profiles to provide consistency with fixed sidelites, operable sidelites or transoms to create unique openings.

Steel inswing doors are familiar and stately. Virtually all entry doors swing into the home to welcome your company into the house. Inswing hinged doors can be used ubiquitously throughout the home or in specific conditions for ease of use. As an example, a inswing is ideal as a bedroom door pair to gain access to a shallow exterior balcony. Or as a single door leading into a mudroom or kitchen where you may need to open the door with your elbow as you carry a load of groceries.

As a trade off for convenience, as inswing doors are difficult to weather seal at the sill, we encourage their use in locations that have protection from extreme weather. Typically, steel inswing doors swing over and sweep onto a raised threshold. The 3/8” rise at the threshold above finished floor height will allow the door bottom weatherstrip to clear the interior finish floor when it opens. If throw rugs are intended on the inside of the door, a taller threshold step may be needed for proper clearance. With the use of modern weather stripping excellent seals take place at the head and jamb, but the sill is always a concern in high exposure areas.

Our swing doors come with multi-point locking installed. For a single door the locking has the primary spring latch and deadbolt along with additional locking points above and below the mortise box. For door pairs there is the same multi-point locking into the inactive door and the inactive door is locked into the head and the sill with concealed flip latching.

Our swing doors come with welded attachment flange to allow integration between the door frame and the framing of the structure. We show a variety of attachment solutions that meet most installation conditions. We also customize the attachment method as needed.

We have developed a variety of mulling conditions to group this product with other products. The narrowest mullions are combo mullions that transition immediately into the fixed glass of a direct set unit. When extra tall doors are needed, we provide options using tube steel mullions that join the fixed and active products.

See our inswing drawings for more information on mulled combinations or select a feature topic below for more information on all of our unique features.
